Leia 18.9 has been created to bring Kodi to the future, and to also bring the future to Kodi. It contains all the latest features, tweaks, and improvements, including the new 4K H.265 codec. The latest stable release of the project, v17 Krypton, can't be distributed as a modified build.This is the official Kodi 18.9 Leia build that can be installed and updated on the most platforms.

Kodi is still in a very early stage of development, but should perform the most basic tasks. While many libraries already offer a 64-bit version, some needed to be ported from 32-bit.

It has been a while since desktop operating systems adopted 64-bit and Kodi, being multi-platform, had to adapt.
Users were asking for the 64-bit version of the app for a very long time. The project carried the names of Atlantis, Babylon, Camelot, Dharma, Eden, Frodo, Gotham, Helix, Isengard, Jarvis, Krypton, and finally Leia. Similar to Android, every version codename starts with a different letter. Kodi v18 is codenamed Leia, as a tribute to actress Carrie Fisher who portrayed Princess Leia in the Star Wars movies.
